Frequently Asked Questions

  • Concierge medicine is a membership-based model that allows physicians to care for a smaller number of patients. This gives patients longer visits, direct physician access, faster appointment availability, and more personalized, proactive medical care.

Our goal is to remove the frustration and delays common in traditional healthcare and provide thoughtful, relationship-based care.

  • Traditional primary care physicians often manage thousands of patients, which can lead to rushed visits and limited access.

At Sharp Health MD, we intentionally limit our patient panel so we can:

    • Offer same-day or next-day appointments

    • Spend more time during visits

    • Provide direct access to your physician

    • Focus on prevention and long-term health

    • Help manage urgent concerns quickly to avoid unnecessary ER or urgent care visits

  • Our combined training in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine allows us to

manage both urgent concerns and complex ongoing medical issues, often helping

patients avoid unnecessary referrals, urgent care visits, or trips to the emergency room. As a husband-and-wife physician team, we also offer personalized care for both men’s and women’s health concerns in a comfortable, approachable setting.

  • Sharp Health MD is a membership-based practice. The membership fee covers services not typically reimbursed by insurance including extended visits, comprehensive preventive planning, enhanced after-hours physician access, access to in-office labs and procedures, and ongoing care coordination. Insurance is still used for covered services such as laboratory testing, imaging, specialist visits, hospital care, and medications. Services provided in our office that are covered by Medicare or traditional insurance are billed accordingly.

Our goal is to provide enhanced, personalized care while allowing patients to continue using their insurance benefits for services outside the scope of membership.

  • We coordinate referrals and work closely with specialists when needed. Because we know your history and goals, we can help guide decisions and ensure communication remains clear across your care team.

  • Dr. Joey Sharp is a board certified internist with extensive experience with inpatient acute care medicine. He will be credentialed at both NCH and Physicians Regional to see you while you are hospitalized and coordinate care with your inpatient team. If you are hospitalized outside of the Naples area, Dr. Sharp can communicate with your providers to advocate for the best care plan. We know the stress that acute illness and hospitalization can bring and do everything possible to ensure continuity of care at every step.

  • Yes. Many urgent concerns can be handled directly through the office, often the same day. We have in-office EKG, ultrasound and lab capabilities (chemistry, hemoglobin and rapid viral tests) and the capacity to address lacerations, nose bleeds and even administer IV fluids and antibiotics. Our goal is to evaluate and treat issues early whenever possible, helping patients avoid unnecessary urgent care or emergency department visits.

  • While we are not board certified in pediatrics and recommend all children maintain an established relationship with a pediatrician for their primary and preventive care, Dr. Talley Sharp is able to provide urgent care services for the children and grandchildren of our members as a board certified emergency medicine physician.

  • Yes. Many follow-ups or minor concerns can be managed through phone or video visits when appropriate, allowing convenient access even while traveling.

  • House calls may be available on a case-by-case basis depending on patient needs and circumstances.
